Environmental Education Funded By Blue Flag News
50% of proceeds from Blue Flag News partnerships fund environmental education activities in the South Atlantic. These are the first three projects, developed by Blue Flag Argentina and Blue Flag Uruguay.
How the three connect
One system, not three separate ideasBlue Flag News monetisation funds three projects that chain into each other: Project 1 produces the content, Project 3 trains the people who deliver it, and Project 2 tells the story — feeding back into the site that sustains the monetisation.
The kit
Content — three threatened species, made visible to beachgoers.
Training
People — lifeguards and beach staff who deliver the kit.
Correspondents
Storytelling — young reporters publish the season's story back on this site.
The three projects
Season 1Vecinos Invisibles del Atlántico Sur — Beach Education Kit
A physical and digital kit on three threatened South Atlantic coastal species — gatuzo, franciscana dolphin, Patagonian seahorse — delivered to every certified Blue Flag beach in Argentina and Uruguay.
View project →South Atlantic YRE Correspondents
A network of Young Reporters for the Environment covering their own beaches' Blue Flag season, publishing original stories, photos and video directly on Blue Flag News.
View project →Beach Interpreters School
Short training for lifeguards, concessionaires, Green Key staff and municipal personnel, so the education kit can run without an outside educator — jointly certified by Blue Flag Argentina/Uruguay.
View project →Why these three
To be credible to a donor or a subscriber, these projects had to (1) build on relationships that already exist — Blue Flag beaches in Argentina and Uruguay, beach concessionaires, the YRE network, Green Key establishments — rather than structures that still need to be built; (2) chain into each other, so the content, the people and the story reinforce one another; and (3) be measurable with simple indicators the site can publish every season.
This project is financed with the proceeds of Blue Flag News. Subscriptions from national operators, municipalities and programme suppliers convert directly into environmental education on South Atlantic beaches.
